Baboon and Guineafowl

These creatures were regular visitors around the suburb where I grew up in Windhoek/Namibia and as a child one tends to personify animals. Over the years I have made little birthday presents to family members conveying some of these humanistic character traits that I could see in these creatures. I do love the humour and …

Ribena Commercial

Another collaboration with Shy the Sun and Black Ginger. I was set designer on this fun commercial for which we built an idyllic English countryside in forced perspective miniatures to create the illusion of rolling hills all the way to the horizon. Watch it here.

Benchmarks won the Handspring Puppetry Awards at the Out the Box Festival of Puppetry and Visual Theatre Festival 2011 for ‘The Best Puppet Manipulation’ …

Our small team fabricated and built the various miniature environments for the two commercial spots ‘Firefly’ and ‘Ladybug’. Watch the commercials here.

African Dinosaurs Dioramas

Built for Iziko Natural History Museum/Cape Town(opened 2010). I was involved during some of the sculpting process, did most of the paint finishes and helped with diorama fabrication and final installation. We worked closely with leading paleontologist Roger Smith and his team to try and convey the animals as close to what the experts believed these creatures …

I was heavily influenced by the stained sculptures adorning old european architecture with regards to mood and weathering. This was an attempt to make sense of dark emotions brought up …
