Our human vocabulary is full of terms that appropriate the animal nature of cats and dogs and use them to describe ourselves: dogged determination, in the dog box, catty, throw me a bone, tail between the legs, claws out, etc.
We project our humanness onto the animals while seeing ourselves reflected in them. Viewing them as a collection, however, the busts become both intimidating and challenging due to the intensity of the collective looks that are focused on you, forcing you into a new dialogue that questions the inherent understanding of the relationship. Who is the judge and who is being judged?
This is a collaboration with Tania Lee (She being the dog person and I being the cat person).
