Martin Luther King jr.

Sculpture commissioned by the National Heritage Monument(NHM) and was a collaboration with Tania Lee and Lungisa Kala.

MLK is part of a large procession of approx. 100 lifesize bronzes called ‘The Long March to Freedom'(Century City/Cape Town) celebrating the South Africa’s unsung heroes of the past 3 centuries as well as international activists who did their part in the struggle for human rights and dignity.

The mic cable depicts one of MLK’s quotes that we felt suited the tone of the overall procession:

‘If you can’t fly then run; if you can’t run then walk; if you can’t walk then crawl. But whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.’

The sculpture was unveiled by Ambassador Andrew Young in March 2019 who was with MLK the day he was assassinated and human rights activists in his own right.
