I had the opportunity to be a worker-ant for 5 months at Weta Workshop in Wellington/New Zealand while they were busy with weapon, armour, creature, costume and prosthetic fabrication for the Hobbit Trilogy. I moved between departments where-ever help was needed but ended up most often in prosthetics, gluing lycra suits to mold cores for foam-latex Gundabad body suits and re-enforcing the soles of Hobbit feet prosthetics. Conveyor-belt work, but I loved being part of the inspiring hive of talented folk from accross the world.
As we were not allowed to take any pictures of our own, the images below are taken from the Weta Workshop website.
